  • clean the top grill area of the outdoor grill
  • strip bedsheets and pillowcases, including sofa bed —
  • check pillows and comforters for stains, and check mattresses for urine stains
  • check furniture throws
  • take down curtains if they need to be washed
  • will wash bedsheets, pillowcases, curtains, towels, kitchen towels, potholders and shower curtains
  • continue laundry loads and folding during the deep clean

Kitchen

  • open some windows — spray the oven and let it soak
  • remove gas range grates and soak in soapy water in the sink
  • remove and soak drip pans
  • remove all dishes, silverware, utensils and pans — also the pans that are stored under the oven — check everything — put anything dirty or spotted into the dishwasher and run a cycle
  • clean kitchen ceiling track lights
  • clean grease from tops of kitchen cabinets
  • clean grease from outside and inside of range hood
  • clean range, burners, grates, drip pans and knobs
  • remove all drawers — clean crumbs from drawer areas and cabinets
  • clean all appliances: dishwasher, coffee pot, toaster, coffee grinder, blender, etc.
  • pull refrigerator out away from the wall or enclosure –clean top, door seals, front, handles, sides, back and front skirt
  • clean refrigerator enclosure — walls, baseboard and floor
  • clean and rearrange kitchen pantry
  • clean light fixture above sink — if the light cover is open at the top, it needs to be taken off and the bugs cleaned out
  • clean backsplash, countertops, island and bar stools
  • if range is electric, pull out from enclosure, unplug range, clean the sides, back and power cord — sweep floor and clean the enclosure area, baseboard and floor

Bathrooms

  • use a ladder — open and clean the ceiling exhaust fan and the ceiling heater
  • clean light fixtures — if light covers are open at the top, remove covers and clean the bugs out
  • clean bathroom storage closet — refold towels — check hand-held mirrors for hair spray buildup
  • remove vanity drawers — clean crumbs from drawers and cabinets
  • clean mildew from shower door tracks, jacuzzi jets, shower tile and caulk
  • clean shower stall, tub, sink, faucet and toilet — clean water spots from glass shower stall door — clean stains from toilet seat hinges

Laundry Room and Storage Closets

  • look for spilled laundry detergent and softener — clean shelves and rearrange — refold sheets, pillowcases and towels as needed — as far as possible, wipe down washer, dryer and washer hoses — sweep and clean baseboard and floor
  • straighten up the games in the closet

Entire House

  • pick up trash — clean trash containers as needed — replace trash liners
  • check for dust webs in all ceiling corners
  • use a 6 or 8 foot ladder to clean all ceiling fans — if ceiling fan light covers are open at the top, remove covers and clean out the bugs
  • clean high window sills
  • vacuum and clean high shelves above bedroom closets
  • spot clean all walls as needed
  • spot clean windows
  • clean hallway lights — if light covers are open at the top, remove covers and clean out bugs
  • clean or static dust all ornaments, fireplace mantles, knick knacks, ledges, picture frames, lampshades (vacuum if necessary), lamps, wall lights (clean out bugs), doors, door jambs, window jambs and sills, fabric blinds, the slats on the vented folding doors, stairway railings, in between the railing spindles, clocks, books and bookshelves, TV’s and TV stands, TV receivers, tables (all surfaces under the table), nightstands, dressers, trunks, chairs, shelves, luggage caddies
  • refold all furniture throws
  • as far as possible, clean above and below the gas log burner area
  • if there is a wood burning fireplace, clean out unburned logs and ashes, dispose of the logs and ashes safely
  • clean all mirrors, glass tabletops, TV screens and the gas log glass door
  • check for sticky fingerprints: remotes, TV buttons, DVD or VCR players, drawer handles, nightstand clocks and doorknobs
  • remove furniture cushions and clean out crumbs
  • wipe down baseboard around entire house — use a putty knife covered with a wet rag to get into the corners
  • fold up all small rugs — take outside and shake
  • vacuum all area rugs — flip over half the rug at a time to clean the floor under the area rug — move sofas and chairs as needed to clean the area rugs if floor is very dirty, sweep just the corners and edges to get the dirt out where the vacuum can reach it — vacuum all the floors after vacuuming, go over all the floors with a dust mop
  • make all the beds
  • use a wet rag to clean all the corners and edges where the wet mop won’t be able to reach
  • wet mop all floors — change water frequently
  • if floor is carpeted, first run the edge vacuum around all the carpet edges (including the stairs) and also vacuum in the corners — vacuum under all furniture
  • take out the cleaning supplies while the floor dries
  • walk through the home and double-check everything — make sure all windows and doors are locked — close all blinds — set clocks at correct time — check thermostats –make sure gas log is off
  • vaccuum all the floors.
